I wanted to say thank you to the Simi Valley Police Department for updating us about the fire conditions via telephone on Monday night, Oct. 13.

We received an automated message around 10:30 p.m. informing residents of northeast Simi that although no evacuation was in place, people who might need more time to prepare should start thinking about that possibility.

That phone call eased my mind and allowed me a good night's sleep, knowing if the fire situation changed I would be notified.
