Police say man fled scene of accident
A Simi Valley man has been accused of being involved in an alcoholrelated hitandrun traffic collision with a power pole at about 3:06 a.m. Oct. 18 on Highway 118.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Michael Ryan Herron, 25, was driving his pickup truck westbound on Highway 118, east of Santa Clara Avenue, at an unknown speed. Police say Herron allowed his vehicle to cross into eastbound traffic and onto the right shoulder. The truck struck a power pole on the shoulder, causing a widespread power outage throughout the area and forcing a closure on the road while crews cleaned up the scene.
Following the collision, Herron reportedly left the scene and went back to his residence. He was later questioned by officers and arrested for driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage.
No other vehicles were involved in the collision and no injuries were reported.
