Red Cross to host fundraiser in Moorpark
The American Red Cross of Ventura County will host a fundraising dinner from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Thurs., Oct. 23 at the Secret Garden, 255 E. High St., Moorpark.
Chef Michel and Laurea Bardavid, owners of the Secret Garden, will prepare a three-course gourmet dinner served in an outdoor garden setting. Herzog Wine Cellars of Oxnard will donate dinner wines.
The evening will include a reception with nohost bar and appetizers, dinner, silent auction and music provided by Gold Coast Entertainment, owned and operated by Red Cross volunteer Ron Reyes.
The cost is $75 per person. Reservations are required. According to officials, 100 percent of the profits from the event will stay in Ventura County to benefit the work of the local chapter volunteers.
The American Red Cross of Ventura County, in conjunction with the Ventura County Mental Health Department, responded to the Metrolink train accident with 87 volunteers and staff.
The local Red Cross chapter has also deployed a number of individuals to help with the hurricane recovery efforts in Texas, Louisiana and Washington, D.C.
