Pawz and Clawz Animal Rescue will host a dog wash fundraiser tomorrow, Sat., Oct. 18 from noon to 4 p.m. in the parking lot of Theresa's Country Feed & Pet, 1836 Erringer Road, Simi Valley.

A pet Halloween costume contest will start at 11 a.m. before the dog wash. Pets of all kinds are encouraged to enter.

Simi Valley Girl Scout Troop 491 will wash dogs.

The event will include a bake sale and raffle. Dog wash and raffle tickets will be sold on a donation basis.

All proceeds from the event will go to Pawz and Clawz. Members go to shelters through Southern California weekly and rescue dogs and cats that are scheduled to be euthanized.

The organization then adopts the pets out of Theresa's Country Feed & Pet.

Pawz and Clawz has adopted out more than 400 animals in seven months, according to founder Penny Dulaff.

"We have some bills related to the care we give our rescued pets that are building up," said Dulaff, who said she is concerned the rescue could close if it doesn't receive more funding soon.

"Our goal is to raise about $11,000 to cover veterinarian, shelter, housing, feeding, transportation and other expenses," she added.
