Local man honored for public service
Greg Baker Greg Baker of Simi Valley was one of seven Southern California residents who were honored recently at the ninth annual Justice Armand Arabian Leaders In Public Service Awards luncheon in Woodland Hills.
The awards are named for the Hon. Armand Arabian, who served as a member of the Supreme Court of California from 1990 to 1996.
Those recognized included Baker, lifelong community supporter; Ron Kaye, awardwinning journalist; Daryl Gates, former chief of the Los Angeles Police Department; Tommy Lasorda, Los Angeles Dodger manager; Jayne Shapiro, children's advocate; Greig Smith, councilman 12th District, and Gerald Turpanjian, philanthropist.
Christopher Kizer and George Ikejiri received scholarships.
