Simi Valley Town Center has announced the winning submissions in its first Monthly Calendar Fea tured Artist contest. More than 350 art pieces were submitted.

Artists from throughout Southern California were invited to submit art pieces for use in the mall's full-color, glossy calendar. Following are the winning artists and the calendar month their art piece will appear in: Kathy Ikerd, Santa Paula, September; Casey John Nicholson, Simi Valley, October; Karen Payton, Newbury Park, November; Michael Sugar, Simi Valley, December, and Meli Calkins, Granada Hills, January.

The selected pieces will be featured in the interior of the calendar, and the name of the artist will be listed on the front cover.

More than 12,000 Simi Valley Town Center Calendars are distributed to Simi Valley and Moorpark households and at the mall each month.

The calendar highlights events at the mall, including the monthly Fine Art Show and Sale.

Another call to artists is planned for November for calendars starting in February 2009.

All artists are welcome to participate in the monthly art show the first weekend each month to show and sell their art works in the mall's common area for a nominal fee of $35.
