Salutations from new Special Olympics director
I would like to introduce myself as the new regional director of Special Olympics Tri-Valley. I realize that I have some large footsteps to fill, and I can promise that I will do my very best to keep alive the amazing organization that Jan Maseda helped build.
But I can't do it alone, and I hope that I can count on your continued support. I know that we can all agree that in the beginning, middle and end, it is all about the athletes. That's why I'm here—for them.
I am thrilled to be working with Special Olympics and feel very lucky to have found a position that looks as if I will be getting more from it than it is getting from me. I am talking about heart and love and the joy of seeing our athletes enjoy, compete and achieve, and knowing that, however small or large, I can play a part in it as well.
There are a lot of things happening at Tri-Valley, and we hope to have a monthly newsletter out to everyone by mid-September to fill you in on all the news. And of course, if you are in the area, please stop by to say hello—we're here.
I welcome your advice, ask for your help and want to count on your support. Please feel free to call or e-mail me with any comments or observations or just to say hello.
Thank you all for everything you have done to make Special Olympics Tri-Valley all that it is, and let's work together to make it all that it can be in the future for our athletes. Debi Dixon Tarzana
