Hospice in need of volunteers
Give support to families in their darkest hours
      Buena Vista Hospice in Westlake Village is seeking volunteers to assist with terminallyill patients and their families. Hospice is a philosophy, or place, that offers a program of palliative care (relief of symptoms but not a cure for the disease) and other emotional, spiritual and social support for the families and patients facing a limited life expectancy.

Officials offer fire, fall prevention program for seniors
      Inspector Alan Perry of the Ventura County Fire Department will offer a presentation on fire and fall prevention at 1 p.m. Mon., Sept. 22 at the Simi Valley Senior Center, 2900 Avenida Simi. Perry will discuss lifesaving tips for the home to reduce the risk of falls and fire hazards.
