The Simi Valley Family YMCA will hold the annual Y-Adventure Guides information meeting at 6:30 p.m. Sat., Sept. 20 at the Y, 3200 Cochran St., Simi Valley.

Parents and their children will have the opportunity to learn about the program and its activities. A free movie, "Open Season," will be screened outdoors. Popcorn and hot chocolate will also be provided.

Y-Adventure Guides features one-on-one parent-child activities in a group setting. Every parent or caregiver is actively involved with their child.

The program is divided by age groups. Discover Guides is for ages 2½ to 4. Adventure Guides is for grades kindergarten through third. Trailblazers is for grades four through six.

Depending on the program, children and parents go on camping trips and hikes, do craft projects and participate in other activities. The focus is on enhancing the role of parents as guides in their child's life.
