The first meeting of the Simi Valley Community Council 200809 program year will be from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Thurs., Sept. 11 at the International House of Pancakes, 2525 Erringer Road, Simi Valley.

The meeting will include a nohost lunch and brief business meeting. Guest speaker Officer Dwight Thompson, crime investigator with the Simi Valley Police Department, will discuss local youth services. The meeting is open to the public.

The Community Council brings together agencies, organizations, service clubs and individuals to coordinate the special events of each participating group, to foster volunteer service for community betterment and to educate its members on the programs, services and activities in the greater Simi Valley area.
