NEW KICKS—Twenty-five members of the Boys & Girls Club purchased a new pair of shoes from Mervyn's in time for school during an event sponsored by the Rotary Club of Simi Sunset. Members of the Rotary Club of Simi Sunset accompanied 25 Boys & Girls Club members to Mervyn's department store in Simi Valley to purchase backtoschool shoes in August.

Club members Cindy Belmonte, Rob and Betsy Keegan, Karen Stewart, Lynda Nickolai, Mauri Friedman, Kelley Gilliland, Sally Adelblue and Kat Shepherd each assisted several children, helping them find the right size and style of footwear.

Honey Sausedo, Mervyn's assistant manager, also took part in the event.

This is the third year that Rotarians have participated in this project. Each student also received a new backpack.

"The kids were so excited and had a terrific time picking out their own shoes. It was great to see the smiles as they showed their new shoes to each other," said Rob Keegan, Rotary Club community service chair.
