SPECIAL SITE—Boy Scout Neal Morrissette of Simi Valley takes in the view from a bench he created, with the help of his family and fellow Scouts, on the Chumash trail near Flanagan Drive northeast of Simi. For his Eagle Scout project, Morrissette decided to make the bench in memory of longtime Scout supporter Greg Parry, who died in 2006 while mountain biking on the trail in about the same location as the bench. The project was financed by a donation from Rick Pinkston and his cement and tile company, and supplies were donated by Vance Skinner and Rawlings Mechanical Corporation. Morrissette, 17, was aided by Scouts from troops 9661 and 6661, who had to haul supplies, including cement, a half-mile up to the site he selected.
