Brian Davies Brian Davies Brian Davies of Simi Valley was honored as one of the topfundraisers for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Greater Los Angeles Chapter's cycling team of Team In Training at a volunteer thank you reception held at Mountain Gate Country Club in Los Angeles on Aug. 19. Davies raised nearly $12,000 for the society.

Davies, originally from Shrewsbury, England, cycled 100 miles along with 3,350 cyclists from California and around the country, in Team In Training's America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride at Lake Tahoe in June. TNT raised $7.5 million during the event.

Davies' ride around Lake Tahoe took about nine hours with an actual riding time of nearly seven hours.

Davies participated in the ride because his mother Ruth died of acute myeloid leukemia in April and his aunt Meg Lunt died of nonHodgkin's lymphoma before that.

David Lunt of Katy, Texas, the son of Meg Lunt, assisted with the fundraising efforts as well as the coworkers at his company, VeriClaim in Houston. The Habit Burger and Grill in Simi Valley also sponsored a fundraising event.
