The Simi Valley Office of Emergency Services is accepting applications for the next Community Emergency Response Team training scheduled for six weeks on Wednesdays from 7 to 10 p.m. beginning Sept. 10 at the Emergency Operations Center inside the police department building, 2901 Alamo St., Simi Valley.

The application deadline is 6 p.m. today.

Applications are available from the police department or online at www.simivalley.org.

Anyone 18 years or older who lives or works in Simi Valley is eligible to participate. The course is free of charge.

The program will provide participants with hands-on training and skills in disaster preparedness, fire safety and suppression, disaster medical operations, light search and rescue, disaster psychology and team leadership.
