Moorpark College football team sends eight to Division I schools

Moorpark College, coming off another Western State Conference football championship and an American Bowl title, has had eight of its players join Division I universities.

Linebacker Alex Hoffman Ellis accepted a fullride scholarship to Washington State, where he will join another fellow Raider, kicker Nico Grasu.

Offensive Lineman Garrett Nolan will also play in the Pac10 at USC.

WSC Most Valuable Player Conrad Meadows, leader of the Raiders' second straight nine-win team, earned a full ride to Northern Arizona University. Cornerback Anthony Evans will join Meadows in Flagstaff, Ariz.

Receiver Daniel Wolverton is now at Portland State. Meadows and Wolverton both prepped at Moorpark High.

Safety Wiston Jeune accepted a scholarship to University of Texas at El Paso.

Quarterback Bryan Randolph, a graduate of Simi Valley High, has transitioned to Sam Houston State after one season at Moorpark College.

"As successful as our team has been, the most gratifying part of my job is helping these young men reach their goals of Division I college football," Moorpark head coach Jim Bittner said.

"We are proud of our long history of sending young men to four-year universities."

Moorpark College closed out its final year in the WSC with its 11th championship in the last 22 years. In the same span, Moorpark has earned 17 postseason appearances.

Last season's American Bowl saw the Raiders as heavy underdogs against the defending national and state champion El Camino College.

But, Moorpark pulled off one of the biggest upsets in California community college history by converting a twopoint conversion in overtime to win, 42-41.

This year, Moorpark will be a member of the new National Northern Conference in the Southern California Football Alliance.
