Free Red Cross disaster preparedness presentations will be offered in August:

•6 p.m. Thurs., Aug. 21 at Borders, 2910 Tapo Canyon Road, Simi Valley

•7 p.m. Tues., Aug 26 at Barnes & Noble, 4820 Telephone Road, Ventura

The presentation will give attendees information on how to be prepared for natural or man-made disasters, including earthquake, tornado, flood and fire.

The Red Cross offers the following tips for disaster preparedness:

Get a kit. Have at least three days of supplies in an easytocarry evacuation kit.

Make a plan. Planning ahead can help in having the best possible response to disaster.

Be informed. Know what may happen and how to help.
