Denim gala decorates difference makers

PLEASANT EVENING—Attendees enjoy country western music played by The Riders of Purple Sage during the inaugural Simi Valley Days Denim Gala Dinner on Aug. 9 at Strathearn Historical Park and Museum. Simi Valley Days "Persons of the Year" honored that evening were: city historian Pat Havens, Simi Valley Days Foundation Award; McPherson Foundation founders Phil and Mary McPherson, Simi Valley Days Heartfelt Award; and Dave McCormick, Simi Valley Days Volunteer Award. Mayor Paul Miller presented each of the honorees with certificates of appreciation for  their volunteerism. Proceeds from the event went to  the Simi Valley Days Foundation. Simi Valley Days 2008 begins Sept. 10.
