Hey, let's take it easy on the chief
      It seems that the last two weeks have been "Beat up on the Chief" week. Police Chief Mike Lewis writes a positive letter reporting that fireworks complaints and enforcement actions were down compared to last year. He then goes on to thank the citizens for their efforts to comply with the law.

UCC protestors should take aim elsewhere
      I couldn't help but notice this article ("A year later, protesters persist outside UCC," Simi Valley Acorn , Aug. 1), as I often pass by the UCC on Sunday mornings and wonder what the motivation is here. It seems the law has been broken, and, according to Ms. Marino, " We have to stand with our nation's laws; otherwise there's anarchy.

Injured cyclist and family say thanks
      "Wow" is all we can say to describe the fundraiser for Pat Myhr (Simi Valley Acorn , July 25). There are too many people to thank personally, so I hope this gets to all of you who helped organize and implement this special day.

Higher density is not evil
      This is a rebuttal to a letter by Kathy Blackwell published in the Acorn Friday, Aug. 1. First, I want to recognize and appreciate Ms. Blackwell's interest in matters so essential to our city. Although we may disagree, I do respect her involvement.
