Council members get a raise
      Simi Valley City Council members are getting a raise. Following November's general municipal election, the salary for council members will be $83.93 per month more than this year. That comes to an annual figure of $14,937.96, just over $1,000 more than the current $13,930.80 salary.

CHP warns against leaving children alone in hot cars
      The California Highway Patrol is warning the public of the dangers of leaving a child alone inside a sweltering-hot vehicle. "When left in the sun, it only takes a minute for the inside of the vehicle to become like an oven," said CHP Capt. Whiteford of the Ventura area office.
