Longest-running musical hits Moorpark theater

The High Street Arts Center presents the musical "The Fantasticks," with book and lyrics by Tom Jones and music by Harvey Schmidt, from Aug. 8 through Sept. 14 at the center, 45 E. High St., Moorpark.

Showtimes are 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Sundays.

"The Fantasticks" is the longest running musical in the world. The intimate show is a tale of young lovers who come together by their fathers' design, become disillusioned and eventually discover a more mature, meaningful love.

The show, directed by Rachel Manheimer with musical director Paul Taylor, contains such songs as "Try to Remember" and "Soon It's Gonna Rain."

The cast includes Jodi Wurts, Brent Catarino Ramirez, Sarah Beth Markus, Tom Puckett, Ken Johnson, Paul Panico, Garrett Nichols, George Kralemann and Jennifer Tovaas.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and students, and $8 for children 12 and under. Group discounts available.
