Time for fireworks fans to defuse

2008-08-01 / Letters

Sherrill Strothman's Letter to the Editor in the July 25 Acorn really took the words right out of my mouth.

I am the recipient of a bottle rocket on my roof and one on my patio. My dog has to be tranquilized and put in a bedroom with loud TV or music. Enough is enough.

Last year the police presence was all over town, and the news coverage prior to the Fourth warned people of the pending enforcement. What happened this year?

Until the state of California outlaws these dangerous fireworks we will continue with the same problem year after year. As long as Fillmore sells fireworks we will not have peace.

How stupid to ban them from some cities and not others? The knuckleheads who think blasting bottle rockets onto my property is funny might think twice if we had better laws and enforced them.

Wake up, California. We have enough fires without the added threat from illegal fireworks.

Next year I'm driving my neighborhood and calling the police every time I see illegal fireworks. Might save my home from bottle rockets or from catching fire. Judi Burrow Simi Valley
