Simi synagogue will meet for Shabbat, barbecue

Congregation B'nai Emet will hold two events this weekend.

•A Family Shabbat service will be at 7:30 p.m. tonight, Friday, Aug. 1, at the synagogue, 4645 Industrial St., No. 2C, Simi Valley.

Rabbi Michele Paskow will lead the brief service for children of all ages.

Melissa Shilkoff, Lindsey London and Lillian Knecht, students in the B'nai Emet Religious School, will receive the Bat-Or award, a merit pin for Jewish Junior Girl Scouts.

•The congregation will sponsor a "Get To Know Us" barbecue from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3 at the synagogue.

Representatives will be available to provide information and answer questions regarding the synagogue's activities, such as religious school education, preschool programs, Sisterhood and Men's Club, which will serve free kosher hot dogs and hamburgers.
