Donations could be better spent

It's touching that young Andrew and his family want to save a dog's life ("Family Needs Money to Save Pet Dog," July 20 Acorn).
My own son brought me a rescued kitten a few years ago, whose vet bills have totaled hundreds of dollars so far, with a recent estimate of $1,200 to do an operation that might give him a few more years.
People can send me money too, if they'd like.
On the other hand, I have a good friend whose husband, just one week ago, broke his neck in a freak accident. I think she and her family need the money more than I do. Debby Wade Simi Valley
