Simi Valley Days organizers put out a call for volunteers
Organizers of Simi Valley Days are reaching out for volunteers.
Opening day is Sept. 10, and helping hands are still needed to man ticket booths, gates and the information desk.
"It takes volunteers to run this," said manpower chairperson Fran Stillwell. "It's very important that we get enough people."
It is hoped volunteers can work throughout the four-day festival, but Stillwell said that isn't a requirement.
"It's whatever they can give," Stillwell said. "If they can't quite work the full time, they can just contribute whatever time they can."
Volunteers are encouraged to dress in attire that reflects this year's Old West Pioneer theme, she said, but that is up to each individual.
Stillwell said volunteers get back much of what they give.
"It's a chance to give back to your community. You could work with the great people of the local volunteer organizations that benefit all of us," she said.
Simi Valley Days, running Wednesday, Sept. 10 through Sunday, Sept. 14, is in its 24th year. This year's theme is "Pioneer Days to Simi Valley Days- 75 Years of Pride."
