Studying the stars through cyberspace

The Ventura County Astronomical Society will hold its monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 18 in the multipurpose room at Mesa Union Middle School, 3091 N. Mesa School Road, Somis.
The topic for the evening will be "Exploring space in cyberspace: Large digital sky surveys and virtual observatory." Dr. S. George Djorgovski will discuss how technological advances have changed astronomy.
Djorgovski is a professor of astronomy at codirector of the Center for Advanced Computing Research at Caltech.
The meeting is free and open to the public.
