Gates open next Friday at 3 p.m.
      The Rotary Club of Simi Valley (noontime club) will host the 38th annual Fourth of July Festival and Fireworks Extravaganza at Rancho Santa Susana Park, 5005 Los Angeles Ave., Simi Valley. Gates will open at 3 p.m. and live entertainment will start at 3:30 p.m.

Sail away at UCLA extension
      UCLA Extension will off two internationally certified courses in sailing small boats. Instructor for both courses is Paul J. Miller, director of the California Sailing Academy Coast Guard School and former U.S. Naval Academy sailing coach.
