Many locals land All-Marmonte honors

The Marmonte League has announced its All-League teams in baseball, softball, boys' tennis, boys' golf and boys' volleyball.

Many athletes were recognized for their accomplishments during the season. Here's a rundown of the local players that made the squads:

Baseball

Coaches of the Year: Matt La Belle of Simi Valley; Frank Mutz of Thousand Oaks.

First team: Tanner Peters and Mike Vinyard of Royal; Jonathan Meyer, Brent Keys and Nick Russo of Simi Valley.

Second team: Bryan Berglund and Cody Buckel of Royal; Eric Bernstein and Chance Cross of Simi Valley.

Softball

Most Valuable Player: Sam Fischer of Simi Valley.

Defensive Players of the Year: Keilani Jennings of Newbury Park and Brianna Stephan of Simi Valley.

Coach of the Year: Russ Michael of Simi Valley.

First team: Kelli-jo Killingsworth, Amber Olive, Amanda Oliveto and Jessica Soria of Simi Valley; Liz Tsipouras and Colleen Nilles of Royal.

Second team: Sammi Mallory of Royal; Ali Mapes, Tawny Reeger and Haley Thomas of Simi Valley.

Boys' golf

First team: Chase Patten of Simi Valley; Danny Katz, Kyle Holden and Chris Gilbert of Royal.

Second team: Julian Ho and Bobby Holden of Royal.

Boys' tennis

First team doubles: Spencer Stendel and Adam Luong of Simi Valley.

Second team doubles: Sid Jairam and Josh Santiago of Simi Valley.

Boys' volleyball

Most Valuable Player: Trevor Jones of Royal.

First team: Kyle Auge of Royal.

Second team: Jerame Maas, Tyler Petersen and Chase Boswell of Royal.

Third team: David Carranza of Simi Valley; Matt Janke of Royal.
