Mountain View students have a Field Day The children of Mountain View Elementary School participated in the school's 15th annual Field Day games May 15. This year's theme was "Olympic Spirit."
A Parade of Nations opened the program, with each class representing a different country. Fifth-grader Oscar Ibarra took the Athlete's Oath, and third-grader Rosie Navarro was the torch bearer.
Classes took part in 12 events, including volleyball, soccer, a tricycle relay and a luge Slip 'n Slide. At the end of the day each student was presented with a gold medal button.
Mountain View's PTA started Field Day 15 years ago as a means of celebrating the end of state and national testing by spending a day outside participating in active team-building sports. Parent volunteers assist in running the events as well as donating snacks and beverages.
