Keep dogs on a leash

2008-06-06 / Community

Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District reminds residents that dogs must be on a leash at all times on district properties.

A dog off leash can easily hurt someone, jump on another person, chase a squirrel into the street and cause a car accident, or get in a fight with another dog.

Park rangers, district staff, police and other authorities deal with the aftermath of normally nice dogs who got into circumstances the owner didn't expect.

Park rangers are authorized to issue citations to anyone found with their dog off leash in a public park, open space, trail or other district property in both Simi Valley and Oak Park. The fine for these citations may exceed $350.
