Residents now have place to dispose of old American flags

2008-05-30 / Community

The community is invited to participate in a dedication ceremony for the newly installed, publicly accessible U.S. flag drop box at the office of Ventura County Supervisor Linda Parks at 2967 Thousand Oaks Blvd., Thousand Oaks. The event will start at 1 p.m. Monday, June 2.

The flag drop box was created by disabled veterans and will be maintained by the Eric Huberth Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Thousand Oaks.

Residents may properly dispose of their worn out American flags by depositing them in the drop box. The flags will then be destroyed in a dignified way in compliance with federal Flag Code rules and VFW procedures.

There's no charge for this service. American flags can be dropped off between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays. For more information, call (805) 373-2564.
