Charitable organizations can apply for free computers

2008-05-30 / Community

The city of Simi Valley has recently replaced a number of personal computer systems that are obsolete for the city's software applications.

The City Council will donate these computers to local schools and nonprofit charitable organizations in the city.

There are 150 computers available, including 17-inch CRT color monitors, and four HP laser printers.

Most of these PC sys- tems are in working order but need installation of an operating system.

Software is not included.

The printers may need reconditioning and/or new toner cartridges but are otherwise in working order.

Schools or groups that can use the systems should call Martha Coyne, administrative secretary for the Department of Administrative Services, at (805) 5836747 for an application form.

The application for deadlines is Friday, June 13.

The city staff, per the City Council's direction, will review the applications, make recommendations and distribute the equipment on or before Aug. 31.
