No DUI fatalities recorded over Memorial Day weekend
CHP sees 15 percent drop in number of drunkdriving arrests
      Fewer people were arrested and no one was killed in a DUI crash during the Avoid the 14 Memorial Day crackdown in Ventura County. Police officers, sheriff's deputies and California Highway Patrol officers made 102 DUI arrests during the long weekend, a 15 percent drop from last year's holiday weekend total of 120.

Cyclists gather to remember fallen riders
     WENDY PIERRO/Acorn Newspapers RIBBON OF REMEMBRANCE- Cyclists and Simi Valley residents Sue Kay and Ruth Andrews tie black ribbons on their arms in Thousand Oaks last Wednesday, May 21 before a Ride of Silence. About 200 people rode their bikes 10 miles in silence to remember cyclists who have been killed or hurt in motor vehicle accidents while riding. Riders wore black ribbons to remember riders who had been killed and red ribbons if they had been hit by an automobile themselves.

     HORSE HAT- Simi resident Lacey Schamp tries on a unique hat Sunday, May 25 at the 19th annual Cajun, Creole Music Festival. The event was held at Rancho Santa Susana Community Park in Simi Valley and included a 5K run, music, dancing, vendors, a kids area and food. The festival is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Simi Sunrise and is their biggest annual fundraiser.
