Watts had to order the $170 steak two weeks in advance and pay up front in order to have the steak ready to eat on Monday, three days after his 25th birthday. His quest began in his Oregon hometown, where a restaurant offered 3-pound steak dinners. Watts finished all 96 ounces in exactly 59 minutes, winning the $220 his family offered if he could finish in under an hour.
