The Simi Valley Senior Center presents the following programs. Unless otherwise indicated, all events will take place at the center, 3900 Avenida Simi.

•Marty Albert will lead a class on the art of humor and poetry from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 28. The fee is $5 for drop in or four classes for $15.

•A porcelain painting class is offered on eight Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon beginning May 30, with no class on July 4. The fee is $25.

•A book discussion group will cover "Fried Green Tomatoes" by Fannie Flagg from 7 to 10:30 p.m. Monday, June 9. The movie based on the book will be screened at this time.

Participants are asked to read the book before the meeting. A fee of $2 is requested to cover refreshments and movie rental.

•Collectible Days is from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 7. Rita Faulders will talk about specific collectible items and the hobby of collecting. Attendees may bring two of their own collectible pieces to share with the group. Appraisals will not be done at this time.

The fee is $12, which includes refreshments.

•A trip to the Queen Mary ship in Long Beach is scheduled for Sunday, June 22. A deluxe motorcoach will leave the senior center at 10:45 a.m. and return about 6:30 p.m.

Participants will explore the ship on their own and then check in at the Tibbies Dinner Theater for dinner and a performance of "Let the Sunshine In," a tribute to the music of the '60s and '70s.

The cost is $99 per person. Participants will need to pick up an application and return it to the west desk at the senior center.
