Organizers select theme for '08 Simi Valley Days

"Pioneer Days to Simi Valley Days- 75 Years of Pride" is the theme for the 24th annual Simi Valley Days celebration, which is scheduled for Sept. 10 to 14 at Rancho Simi Community Park.

"We chose this theme because it describes Simi Valley Days past and present. A lot of people are not aware that Simi Valley Days was originally called Pioneer Days," said Simi Valley Days chair Gordon Voshall.

Rancho Simi Community Park is the new location for the celebration, which has previously been held at the corner of Los Angeles Avenue and Madera Road.

The new location allows for additional and bigger carnival rides, two entertainment stages showcasing local and regional bands and a food court dining patio.

The "Old Time Picnic" will expand to include more family games, and the merchant's area will be on the park's tennis courts.

Sponsorship opportunities are available for Simi Valley Days at various levels, and sponsors will have the opportunity to purchase ads in a souvenir magazine.

Applications are being accepted for vendors for the merchant's pavilion and the annual Simi Valley Days parade.
