Workshops offered for job seekers

The East County Job & Career Center presents the following workshops for job seekers. Classes are held at the center, 980 Enchanted Way, Simi Valley. Workshops are offered at no cost to job seekers, although space is limited.

Prior registration required for all programs by calling the center at (805) 955-2282.

•Power of VOS (Virtual OneStop), 9 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, June 3. Virtual OneStop system is a valuable tool for anyone interested in looking for work, training or career exploration on the Internet.

•Computer Basics for Job Seekers, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, June 9. Become familiar with Windows desktop programs to enhance job skills.

•Resumes that Sell, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, June 9 and 10. Two-day workshop providing hands-on assistance in completing a resume, cover and thank-you letters. Leave with a portfolio that shows off professional skills and experience.

•Winning Interviews, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, June 12. Supplies the tools to make a lasting first impression when interviewing.

•Online Job Search Strategies, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, June 23. Teaches useful and successful methods of surfing the Internet for job leads and how to properly respond. Must have basic computer skills. Bring a completed resume on 3.5-inch floppy disk.

•Power of VOS (Virtual OneStop), 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday., June 24.
