Lasik not the only option for vision correction
      In a recent article for the New York Times , Abby Ellin described her disappointing experience with Lasik surgery. Post-surgery she reported seeing halos, experiencing blurriness and having sore, dry eyes that felt like they had been "coated in Vaseline." Though she hated wearing glasses, she said, "I walk by eyeglass shops and wish I needed to go inside.

Workshop will look at how addiction affects families
      Aurora Vista del Mar Hospital will host a workshop titled "Addiction and the Family" from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 29 in the gymnasium at 801 Seneca St., Ventura. Community members who have been affected by alcoholism or chemical dependency, including recovering individuals, family members, therapists and clinicians, are invited to attend.

      Simi Valley Hospital recently announced that it will be giving Free Clinic of Simi Valley, a nonprofit organization, a credit of $10,000 worth of outpatient laboratory and diagnostic imaging services for their patients.
