Canyon Creek Farm is Southern California's PMU acquisition, training and placement center dedicated to saving the lives of the thousands of horses displaced in the yearly cycle of the PMU (pregnant mare urine) industry.

The urine is used in manufacturing hormone replacement drugs, especially dugs prescribed for women to use to reduce menopause symptoms. There are farms that keep caged horses used only to produce the urine. Due to declines in drug sales, farms have shut down, resulting in thousands of horses displaced or slaughtered. The foals of the mares used for production which are not sold in time are often slaughtered as well.

Canyon Creek Founder, Tammy Craven and Vikki Dean have purchased and brought about 100 of these horses to Craven's farm in Southern California since 2005. This year the farm received nonprofit status and looks for public support to help continue.
