Three DUI arrests made during holiday checkpoint
One suspect is found in possession of forged DVDS

Personnel from the Simi Valley Police Department conducted a sobriety-license checkpoint in the 2100 block of First Street from 8:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21 through 1:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 22. The checkpoint was staffed by 23 employees.

During the evening about 1,500 motorists were briefly detained and asked to present their driver's licenses. Officers also looked for indications of alcoholic beverage consumption.

Three motorists were arrested and booked at Ventura County Jail for driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

An additional subject was booked for possessing numerous forged DVDs.

Officers also made two other arrests, one for possession of narcotics paraphernalia and the other for a misdemeanor warrant.

In addition to the arrests, 24 citations were issued and 126 vehicles were either stored or impounded.

This was the fourth checkpoint of 2007 and was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.
