Free Christmas tree disposal offered
Curbside collection through Jan. 11

Simi Valley residents with curbside trash service may either place their Christmas tree in the green yard waste container or place the tree on the curb for collection at no additional charge through Friday, Jan. 11.

Trees must be placed at the curb by 6:30 a.m. on the resident's trash collection day. Residents at multifamily complexes with centralized trash collection should contact the complex manager for disposal options.

Residents should cut tall trees in half and remove all stands, ornaments, lights, rods and tinsel from the tree. The trees will be processed into compost and mulch.

The Simi Valley Landfill and Recycling Center, 2801 Madera Road, will accept trees for recycling at no charge through Saturday, Jan. 12 during regular business hours, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Flocked trees and trees treated with fire retardants will be collected as trash as they cannot be recycled.
