Green building program is great

I was pleased to read that the Simi Valley City Council wants to adopt a green building program. With the success of Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth," awareness for global warming is at an all-time high, and I am glad that the town I live in is trying to do something about it.

This movie really opened the eyes of millions of people and showed them that global warming is occurring and at a rapid pace. Global warming is no longer a political issue, it is a moral one, and everyone despite their political affiliation should do their part to help put a stop to it.

If Simi Valley were to take part in the green building program, it would not only benefit the environment but also our town.

Simi Valley will be seen as a leader in the green movement and, as mentioned in the article, will be attractive to potential businesses and residents. By making buildings from recycled construction material and implementing energy efficient techniques and appliances, we in turn are improving our air and drinking water. We could benefit greatly from this program, which will propel Simi Valley forward.

Since global warming is a gradual process, it can be easy to ignore it, but it is good to know that Simi Valley is not only acknowledging it but also trying to prevent further damage. Heather Christian Simi Valley
