Time has come for Santa Su to get its new theater

I know that there are schools that need improvement. I understand that. But the students at Santa Susana Magnet School have been waiting patiently for the new theater building and modernization that was promised to them years ago.

We need to show that all schools are equal in priority to the SVUSD Board of Education. Simi High's new stadium looks beautiful, but when is Santa Susana going to get what was promised to them?

It's not just a spill-over school anymore. The students who attend Santa Susana really want to be there.

The students deserve a quality theater to perform in. I understand that the cost of building materials has risen since the first bond measure providing the money for the theater was passed, but that's why we need to act now and pass one more bond that provides the difference in price.

The Independent Citizen's Overview Committee (ICOC) recently put out a report explaining Bond Measure C-4. And it says that construction on the new theater was supposed to officially begin last month, November 2007, and be finished the following year in 2008. Now I don't know about you, but I didn't notice any construction going on around the general area of that particular magnet school.

So, I restate, when are the students of Santa Susana Magnet School going to get what they deserve? Dave Bloom Simi Valley
