Residents needed to serve on gang task force The Simi Valley City Council is taking applications from residents interested in serving on the city's Community Gang Task Force. The task force was formed in 1995 to study the gang situation in Simi Valley and to develop recommendations to help resolve it. The task force is cochaired by Mayor Paul Miller and Councilmember Glen Becerra and includes representatives from law enforcement, the school and park districts, the Youth Council and local religious and community service organizations. Six community members and one alternate serve as well. Residents serve two-year terms. Applications may be picked up from the Simi Valley Police Department at 3901 Alamo St. or downloaded at www.simivalley.org/ gtfapplication.pdf. The deadline for returning completed applications to the police department is 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28. |
