Community college shouldn't have to pay for roads

In response to Sylvie Belmond's article "Moorpark refiles suit against college district over road improvement concerns," I have to disagree on the viewpoint of the city of Moorpark.

Although I agree that the college is responsible for the environmental effects of its building project, I do not agree that the college should be held financially responsible for the effects on the city's road infrastructure.

Road maintenance is the city's responsibility, and if it cannot pay for the improvement of its roads, it should increase its taxes on the residents or on the students attending the school, who are the cause of traffic, rather than the college. Yes, the college should revise their plans for the sake of the environment, but if the reason for the suit is for the financial cost of repairs and improvements, it should be a burden to taxpayers, not our education.
