Population increase has taken its toll on Simi

We, the longtime residents of Simi Valley, are losing the place that we once knew and loved.

All of the open land that made this city such a rare and beautiful place has been torn up and turned into a farm of houses built so closely together that it's hard to distinguish one from the other.

Due to this mass building, our town has become so overpopulated that one now has to set aside extra time in the morning to get to work because there will most certainly be traffic. This huge increase in population has also taken a harsh toll on the schools. Too many kids are being stuffed into the schools, and frankly the schools of Simi Valley won't be able to continue stuffing for much longer. This brings up the thought of having to inevitably build more schools in the future.

But where will these schools be built? Simi Valley has been torn apart to make room for homes, yet no one seems to have considered that more homes means more people.

Had this been thought through more carefully, perhaps someone would have realized that they were causing much more damage than good. The more building of homes that takes place, the less space there is in schools. So, yes, perhaps people will not be without homes, but their children will soon be without a chance for a good education, if any at all. Emma Buel Simi Valley
