Public meeting will address Sinaloa Park project The Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 18 to discuss revisions made to their proposal to expand the Sinaloa Golf Course. The meeting will take place from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Best Western Posada Royale Hotel at 1775 Madera Rd. The original plans for Sinaloa Park- estimated at a cost of more than $16.5 million- were first announced in October 2006, and called for the addition of a miniature golf course, water park elements, an arcade and picnic pavilions. In recent months, residents living near the golf course have expressed some disagreement with details of the project and have asserted that the expansion would result in an increase in crime and traffic in the surrounding area, as well as a significant loss of open space. The park district and consulting firm Hogle-Ireland, Inc., are inviting interested parties to join them at the meeting, where they plan to reveal significant changes stemming from input and suggestions made by members of the public. For further information on the meeting or the project, please contact Sinaloa Park community relations at (805) 210-9288 or visit sinaloapark.com. - Darleen Principe |
