Gifts will be distributed to families in need

The California Highway Patrol will host the annual CHiPs for Kids Toy Drive through Friday, Dec. 21.

Donated toys, which must be in new condition and left unwrapped, can be dropped off at any CHP office statewide, including those in Moorpark and Ventura. The offices are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and are at 4656 Valentine Road, Ventura, (805) 477-4100; and 610 Spring Road, Moorpark, (805) 530-1620.

Mervyn's stores in the county are also accepting donations. The stores are at 2701 Saviers Road, Oxnard, (805) 487-6323; 4750 Telephone Road, Ventura, (805) 654-8800; 285 N Moorpark Road, Thousand Oaks, (805) 373-7000; and 2801 Cochran St., Simi Valley, (805) 527-8800.

For more than 15 years, the CHP has collected and distributed toys during the holiday season for distribution to lowincome individuals, families and charities through nonprofit agencies.
