Golf tournament raises $27,000 More than 110 golfers participated in the Simi Valley Education Foundation's recent Tee Up for Kidz Golf Tournament at Lost Canyons Golf Course. The event raised more than $27,000, a new record. "This tournament is about bringing the Simi Valley community together for good fun and a good cause," said Kevin Underwood, tournament chair. "The golf tournament raises money for the direct benefit of all the public schools in Simi Valley." The monies raised help provide funding for the foundation's programs, including enhancement grants for teachers and schools; Matching School funds for secondary schools; scholarships for graduating high school seniors; and Partners in Education, a program that provides scholarships for staff professional development. At this year's tournament, players had the opportunity to have a pro drive for them at one hole, participate in a 50/50 raffle at another and enjoy food and goodies from the hole sponsors.
