Unhappy about developments at Happy Face Hill

Oh my, oh my, how I agree with the mail you have received lamenting the developing of Happy Hill.

I was another one of the poor suckers who attended City Council meetings in hopes of speaking my piece with some success. What was I thinking?

I say poor sucker because my personal experience has been that our council looks most interested in overbuilding Simi and- I must assume- the prestige or money that comes with that. Don't even get me started on the freeway noise and how sound walls are the last, last thing on our City Council's list of priorities.

I remember the "big boss" Larwin representative saying his piece at a public meeting I attended. He might as well have been smoking a congratulatory cigar and patting his belly.

How the City Council felt right in okaying this development I will never know. What is it with the age-old story of lowly citizens trying to get local government to represent them and not every shyster that traipses through our garden?

This news of a walk-away now disgusts me. Can we get land back? Can we at least make Larwin behave and clean up after themselves?

Couldn't we maybe somehow, still, just have trails, trees or nature there? And most importantly, can't the City Council members play with and count the bucket loads of city revenue they must already have and start making some thoughtful choices? Sharon Morrissette Simi Valley
