Skateboarder struck by car, thrown 100 feet A 16-year-old Simi resident was badly injured last Friday when he was struck by a car while riding his skateboard at the intersection of Heywood Street and Erringer Road. According to police, Ricardo Santiago did not have the rightofway and was listening to his iPod when he went through a red light. The severity of the impact propelled Ricardo out of his shoes and sent him in excess of 100 feet. The occupants of the vehicle were uninjured. Ricardo was taken to Simi Valley Hospital to be treated for rib and leg fractures, a concussion and a collapsed lung. |
